Northern Minnesota fit

Cold-weather details matter.

An exterior pet door can become a draft and moisture path when the product is undersized, poorly sealed or not suited to winter conditions. We review flap insulation, closing strength, frame fit, threshold height and the manufacturer's sealing instructions before installation.

For many Iron Range homes, a quality insulated or multi-flap product is a better fit than the lightest basic insert. The customer selects and supplies the product unless purchasing help is arranged in advance.

Scope boundaries

Some openings need a specialist.

Glass cutting, powered or hardwired access systems, major structural changes, fire-rated assemblies, complex exterior-wall penetrations and work that requires a permit or residential-contractor credential are not accepted as ordinary pet-door installation. Wall installations are reviewed individually for framing, wiring, plumbing, siding, insulation, moisture barriers and current credential requirements.
